Luke 9:23 - Bringing the lost to faith is just the beginning of life in Christ. The first Christians were devoted to Him as well. As a Church Body, our call is to not only reach the lost but to help them grow into fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. But in order to make disciples, we must first be disciples.
Luke 19:10 - God has placed a mission on the heart of our Body - To reach unchurched people and help them grow into fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. It's an overwhelming task until we realize that it was Jesus' mission as well! This week we learn the more we reach others for Christ, the more we appreciate that someone first reached us for Christ.
Acts 2:42-47 - If ever the call for biblical Community was needed, it is now. People have never been so fractured and polarized. Yet the call of the holy Spirit is unity. Now is the time, as the Body of Christ, for us to reaffirm our commitment to God's vision for Chesapeake Church to be "A growing Biblical Community".
Perhaps the most repeated yet not fully understood attribute of God is His love. God's love extends into us so deeply that we do not realize that all love comes from Him. We cannot love without Him. His love is so powerful that when properly understood, its effect is to make us more like Christ.
