February 24 & 25, 2018 - 1 Peter 2:4-10 - In a fascinating twist of words, Peter, whom Jesus dubbed “The Rock” reminds us that our lives today and our eternities forever are grounded on the living stone of Jesus Christ. Even though the builders of the day rejected Christ, He is actually a precious cornerstone of our salvation and our very dignity. Through His shame, we are never ashamed.
February 17 & 18, 2018 - 1 Peter 1:17 - Peter continues to set our eyes on the source of our salvation by reminding us of the source of our identity – Christ. In a time when people align with movements, groups and viewpoints, Peter grounds our identity in the truth of Jesus Christ. That it is “through Him that you believe in God”.
February 10 & 11, 2018 - 1 Peter 1:2 - The Apostle Peter starts of his book by reminding us of the foundation of our salvation – grace. All that we have has been made available to us through the death and resurrection of Christ – and thus we have an inheritance that can “never perish, spoil or fade”. Our starting challenge is to live as a people who begin in grace, live in grace and remain in grace.
February 3 & 4, 2018 - James 5:7 - Christians are taught that patience is a fruit of the Spirit. It is, in fact, the secret weapon of the effective Christian.
